Large squared off flat tread designs on solid tires looks robust, heavy duty, and long lasting. However, these designs are misleading. They look good but perform poorly. The initial 15 minutes of testing shows how important it is to have good tire design.
No crown and no tapered edges led to catastrophic damage in just 15 minutes and with only about 15 cycles around our figure 8 test course.

This is primarily due to a lack of a proper tire crown and tapered tread edge on the segmented tire's.
So naturally, the asphalt created its own tapered edges and created its own crown.
